For my mom, who came from nothing,

But gave my family everything

Who came from a different country

Who comes home from work tired and hungry

Who always lends a helping hand

And tries to understand

Our feelings and exactly what it is that we need

For my dad, the hardest worker I know

Who works in Sun and rain

Who works even when he is in pain

Who when I look in his eyes I can tell he feels drained

And yet he doesn't complain

I want to make them proud

I want them to be cheering in the crowd

When I graduate from college

I want everyone who said I wouldn't be able to do it to acknowledge

All my hard work and dedication

And how far I have come within my education

Since I am the first

I want to be able to inspire

And I want future generations in my family to Desire

To desire better opportunities for themselves and to chase their dreams

Even when those dreams seem impossible
